Anything is possible with His grace, even in the midst of Covid-19!!
PART 1 – A Smile of Grace and a Surrendered Heart!
It was May 2020, the world was in Covid-19 lockdown, and uncertainty was in the air. Like many others, our little family (Wifey, Baby Mairaa, My mother & Myself) was trying to find our feet. We had been searching for a suitable 4-bedroom rental home for months as our forever dream home, Vaikunda, dedicated to Sri Hari and baby Mairaa, was still under construction.
Between the pressure of commuting and working over 10 hours, sleepless nights with our new born-baby, and endless rental inspections, I found myself completely depleted, exhausted and frustrated to say the least. I vividly remember that Monday (11/5/2020) night, after yet another long day, my eyes casually fell upon Swamiji’s photo, kept on my study desk / library, and for a quick glance, it appeared to be smiling mischievously like little Krishna.
Hypnotically gazing at Swamiji’s photo, a deep sense of peace enveloped me. It brought an instant sense of serenity and a soothing stillness within! With closed eyes and a quiet heart, I simply spoke to Him mentally saying:
“Prabhu (Lord), I have never asked You for anything nor ever will. All I seek is ‘Your Grace and Smile’ in our lives. I leave everything in Your hands. You know what’s best.”
{Note – Those were the exact very words I had written in my initiation form, when asked, “What are your expectations in being initiated by Me (Om Swami)?” My answer then was & is: “Nothing. Just Your grace and smile in our lives.}
After mentally saying those words, I drifted off to sleep. The next morning, as I was driving to work, immersed listening to the Sri Hari Aarti sung by Swamiji, I received a phone call. It was the real estate agent letting me know that our rental application for a beautiful home in Lightsview had been approved!
I was stunned. Silent. Completely overwhelmed.
The house was perfect – right across from a lush green park for my mother’s daily walks and just minutes from Mairaa’s childcare centre.
I didn’t know what to say, or even whom to share this moment with right away.
But in my heart, I knew without a doubt: He heard my surrendered plea.”
PART 2 – Swamiji, the Birds, and the Garage Door
If you’ve ever moved houses in Australia, you’ll know it’s not a task – it’s a full-blown Iron Man Triathlon.
With the lease signed and keys in hand, things escalated fast. Removalists were booked, utilities lined up, furniture pickups organised, and my mental peace? Well, that got packed in one of the boxes too.
By the weekend Saturday night, after nearly 12 hours of backbreaking lifting, driving between properties, and loading bulky items from various stores, the final box was placed in our new home. The removalists — bless them — worked tirelessly for 9 hours and deserved every dollar of the AUD $850 I handed them.
Just as I waved them goodbye, breathing a sigh of relief… the unthinkable happened.
I had left the garage remote inside.
And the garage door? It had locked itself from within.
Inside the garage? Our daily essentials. Baby supplies. Sanity.
Outside the garage? Me. No keys. No clue.
Calling a locksmith on a weekend would cost me AUD $300–$500 — money I really didn’t want to part with after just paying for the move. My head began to spin: frustration, exhaustion, and a creeping dread of explaining this mishap to my wife. (If you’re married, you know the “You should have… bla bla bla” lecture I was about to receive.)
Desperate for a breather, I walked into the backyard to do something grounding — feed the birds with our leftover food, a quiet ritual my wife and I have cherished since we met.
As the birds swooped down, a memory surfaced — a story from the book “Om Swami As We Know Him,” where one of Swamiji’s disciples mentioned that even birds spoke to Him.
So, I thought — why not give it a shot?
With folded hands and a half-smile, I said:
“Dear birds, please tell Swamiji I’m in serious trouble. I’ve lost the garage remote, and the only way to open the door is with a manual key I haven’t seen in ten years. I have no idea where it is! And when I tell my wife, she’s going to roast me alive with her classic ‘I told you so!’ taunts.
Swamiji… You’ll have to handle that part. I’m done!”
Feeling slightly amused and a bit lighter, I headed back in to tidy up. That’s when I walked past the laundry window — a spot where we had jammed an old pillow into the corner to block the draft.
On a hunch (or perhaps a divine whisper), I pulled the pillow out.
Guess what was hiding behind it?
A bunch of keys, quietly waiting to be found.
One by one, I tried them on the manual garage lock.
And just like a perfectly-timed punchline, the last key turned.
I flung the door open and there it was — the remote control, sitting smugly on the glass table, as if to say:
“Peek-a-boo! You found me… hehe!”
The relief that washed over me was unreal. I just stood there, smiling like a kid who’d found his lost toy.
Conclusion
I simply couldn’t keep this to myself. I had to share it with our Black Lotus Australian Family, especially after that second little miracle last night.
To some, these two events — finding the perfect rental at the perfect time, and stumbling upon a long-lost key just when I needed it — might seem like random strokes of luck.
But for me, they were far more than coincidences.
They were gentle, undeniable reminders that Om Swamiji’s grace flows quietly, faithfully, and often in the most unexpected ways.
Moments like these remind me that we are never truly alone — we are watched over, protected, and lovingly guided.
Even in the midst of chaos,
He’s there — preserving, providing, and smiling silently behind the scenes.
